Madera County Superior Court Judge Eric C. Wyatt (45)

Madera County Superior Court Judge Eric C. Wyatt passed away on Saturday at the age of 45 after a 3 year battle with cancer.

Eric was born in Visalia and raised in Salinas, CA. He graduated from Salinas High School and obtained his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Davis in 1988. He went on to earn his law degree from Santa Clara University and began working as an attorney in Madera in the early 1990s at the law office of Mortimer and Oakley where he became a partner.

He met his wife Kristina at the courthouse where she was a clerk and he was an attorney and was married in 1996. He left Mortimer and Oakley to work for the Madera County District Attorney's office in 1997 primarily dealing with gang and MADNET cases and soon became the Assistant District Attorney. Eric was then appointed as Madera County Superior Court judge in 2005 at the age of 38.
 
Outside of work, Eric was known as a family man who loved sports and the outdoors. He competed in swimming, and joined the football team in high school, rode crew at UC Davis and played rugby in law school. He also liked to ski, play basketball and watch and play hockey. He loved spending time with his family and doing anything that his two sons Zachary, 14 and Ryan, 11, were into.

The Honorable Eric Wyatt is survived by his loving wife, Kristina Wyatt, sons Zachary and Ryan, parents Richard and Martha Wyatt, and his brother Keith Wyatt.

Private funeral services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Stanford Medical Center for glioblastoma research.
