Southwest Fresno Officers Arrest Gang Member with a Loaded Firearm:

FRESNO - On December 28, 2017, Officers Robert Saenz and Eric Hull, who are assigned to the Fresno Police Downtown Policing Unit, were working proactively in the area of Belmont and Broadway in Southwest Fresno. The officers conducted a traffic stop when they observed a small pickup truck fail to fully stop at a stop sign.

As the officers were pulling over the vehicle they could see that there were two people inside the small pickup cab. They watched the driver appear to place an object into a bag in-between the two occupants. The officers approached the vehicle during the stop and identified the driver as 27 year old Fresno resident, Tyrone Williams. Williams was found to be on AB109 Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for assault on a public officer.

The officers ordered the occupants out of the vehicle to conduct a search of the vehicle. The officers noticed a bag where they had seen Williams reaching as the vehicle was pulling over. Lying in the bag was a loaded 9mm handgun. The handgun was not registered and was loaded with 7 rounds to including one round that was chambered.

Williams was arrested for weapons charges to include being a prohibited person possessing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and being in violation of his PRCS conditions. Williams admitted to being a “Playboy” criminal street gang member. He was booked at the Fresno County Jail on the above listed charges.

The Fresno Police Department would like to remind the public that Crime Stoppers has enhanced the rewards for information related to gang members who are involved in narcotic sales, firearm possession, and human trafficking. The new campaign consists of the following monetary rewards for anonymous tips. If a gang member is arrested for possessing a handgun, the reward is $2,000. If a gang member is arrested for possessing an assault rifle, the reward is $3,000. If a gang member is arrested for human trafficking, the reward is $3,000 and if a gang member is involved in drug sales, the reward is $1,000.
