Shots Ring Out on Madera's West Fourth Street

MADERA – Shots rang out in Madera Thursday night on West Fourth Street. While an Officer was finishing an unrelated investigation at Madera Community Hospital the victim of a gunshot wound was brought to the hospital’s emergency room by a relative.

The relative advised the officer that the victim had been beaten up. The Officer responded by calling for medical staff at the hospital to come and treat the victim. He was taken into MCH and provided care before being transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for more advanced treatment. The victim is in stable condition.

Madera Police Department received a call for a reported shots fired coming from the area of N St. and 4th St in the city of Madera. Additional Officers responded to the area in which the shooting took place and located the crime scene.

It appears as though a verbal altercation took place on N St, just north of 4th St. At some point, gunshots rang out and both sides of the altercation fled the scene. The victim walked through a couple backyards just north of 4th St to his residence on O St. According to Madera PD Sergeant Matt Wiles, police are investigating this incident as gang related.
