Madera Woman Allegedly Killed By Her Husband in Domestic Violence Incident

MADERA – Early Thursday evening Madera Police Officers responded to a check welfare call in the 3300 block of Winter Way. When they arrived on the scene they discovered the victim of an apparent murder.

Jeffery Olson, the victim's husband, was arrested at the scene and has since been booked at the Madera County Department of Corrections. Madera PD is calling this a domestic violence case, adding there is no outstanding risk to the public.

Police say they initially received a call of shots fired around 7:30 p.m. at a home on Winter Way near Avenue 14 and Westberry Boulevard. 

Madera Police are investigating as a homicide."Because of the nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect, we're not releasing any other information at this time," said Madera Police Lt. Josiah Arnold.

Lt. Arnold added, “We continue to ask for prayers for those affected by this tragic incident. We'd also like to ask for witnesses of domestic violence to report those crimes to the Madera Police Department. Domestic violence can be an insidious crime that often goes unreported for years.”  

While police have not officially identified the victim, neighbors say the woman was Meigan Taff-Olson (34). She was a 2004 graduate of Madera High School and the mother of two small children. She and the suspect had lived in the home on Winter Way since 2016.
