Vineyard Restaurant Owner Dies at 92: Robert Mariscotti

MADERA - Robert Rasmeo “Bob” Mariscotti was born in Berenda, CA on November 21, 1923 and died in Fresno, CA on Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was the owner of The Vineyard Restaurant, Madera, CA. Bob’s earliest years were spent in the town of Berenda, CA, helping at the family store and attending the two room school.

During WWII he proudly served on Tinian, Japan, in the medical corps and military police. After the war, he returned to The Valley and eventually went into business with his parents at The Berenda Ranch Restaurant on Highway 99. In 1977, Bob and Helen opened The Vineyard Restaurant in Madera.

His lifelong interests included architecture, Italian culture, and agriculture. Bob was happiest surrounded by family and friends at a full table, enjoying good food, conversation and a glass of wine.

Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Helen in 2014.

He is survived by his son, Christopher and his wife Claudine, his daughter Roberta and husband Daniel, his grandchildren, Gianna or “G Marie or Gigi”, Augusta, Cassio and Luc.

Recitation of the rosary will be held at Jay Chapel, Madera, CA, on Thursday March 17, 2016 , at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Madera, on Friday, March 18,2016 at 1:00 P.M.
