CHOWCHILLA – The 55th annual Chowchilla Western Stampede is underway. Wednesday morning the clouds parted and the rain stopped while forty of so cowboys drove a hundred head of cattle straight down Robertson Boulevard in Chowchilla.
While the crowds of the past didn’t line the streets because of the rain storm that dropped a ton of water on the county creating rivers at the fairgrounds where the rest of the week’s festivities will be held.
Roping events will be taking place all weekend at the Madera County Chowchilla Fair Grounds. The first event takes place at 9am with the crowning of the Royal Court some time before 1pm. There are venders available for food, cowboy gear, silver and leather items and food. Come on out to the fair grounds for all the fun.
