Madera Fair Ends Four Day Run With Record Attendance

MADERA - The 125th edition of the Madera District Fair came to an end. Sunday was bargain day with two for one wristband offers on the Midway of Fun and kids under 12 years old were free. Record numbers of guests took up the offers and passed through the gates for the Hispanic themed day.

Traditional Mexican music and dance were performed on the main and patio stages. Sunday was probably the busiest day of the run of the fair. The preliminary reports are that this year attendance is up over the previous years. Revenues from the carnivals and vendors were also up over the previous years.

Bret Michaels Rocks the Fair After Livestock Auction

MADERA - Saturday the boys and girls of the local FFA's and 4H units sold their animals. Youth AG supporters from all over Madera County descended on the Livestock Arenas after eating a Tri-Tip lunch provided by the Madera Breakfast Club. Animals from rabbits to steers sold to help fun the AG students projects.

The gates opened earlier on Saturday and the midway and exhibit halls soon filled with people. Over in the Woman's World the Rib contest took place. With over a dozen entries, the judges were forced to endure the eating of ribs for an hour or so. In the same building quilters were a quilting and painters were a painting. If you haven't been to Woman's World at the fair in a few years you are in for a treat.

Kids & Rockin Country Take Over the Fair

MADERA - It was Madera Unified School District's Kids Day at the Madera Fair. Third graders from all of MUSD's schools were bused over to the fair grounds for a tour of the fair and special shows from the ground acts. The folks from the Chowchilla Stamped were on hand to show kids how to barrel race or rope a steer.

When you head out to the fair this weekend check out the Woman's World Building to see art pieces from each of the schools. Check out the Instagram Contest on the TV screens in the building as well as several photography contests.

Madera Fair Opens With A Bang From .38 Special

MADERA -  The 125th edition of the Madera District Fair opened its gates Thursday night with a bang from 80's rockers .38 Special. The wild eyed southern boys helped bring in record crowds for a Thursday night and played all of their hits for nearly an hour and a half.

Walking around the fair, guests might have noticed several changes including the addition of over 40 new picnic tables, a kids zone near the old grandstand and Tech Town at Lumber Town. The Madera High School Robotics Team has taken over Lumber Town with digital printers, virtual reality games, robots and a plethora of technology. If your phone is dead, there is even charging stations.

Madera Fair Starts Thursday for Four Day Run


- Madera District Fair coined “It’s Your Fair!” opens, Thursday, September 8th for its four day run ending on Sunday, September 11th. Celebrating the Community is a large emphasis for the 2016 season, including an opening night Community Business Fair at the Fair, an expanded Safety Zone created for local law enforcement and government agencies open all four days, special community exhibit contests as well as “Community Day” at the gate on Thursday, September 8th.

“Community Day” bargains include free entry for Active military, veterans and current first responders, seniors 62 and over, and kids 12 and under.  In partnership with Madera County Food Bank, “Community Day” will include a can food drive, guests can receive $2 off a single admission for every 2 cans brought to the gate on Thursday, September 8th.
