All Star Tournament Starts Next Tuesday
Madera -The Little League teams from River Park swept the 2011 Tournament of Champions at Madera's Town n County Park Saturday for the third straight year. In the first game the Triple-A River Park Yankees beat the 3A Selma team in four innings by mercy rule 14-0. In the major league game held later Saturday the River Park Tigers faced the Breakfast Lions of the Madera National Little League. This pitchers duel was knotted up at 1 to 1 into the eighth inning. When a routine fly ball was hit to right fielder, the fielder slipped on the grass sending the ball to the fence and allowing River Park to score two.
After the home team Breakfast Lions failed to score in the bottom of the inning, River Park won the 2011 TOC flag. Trevor Quinn was the winning pitcher for River Park who was also named to the leagues twelve year old All Star Team.
The Distrcit 10 Little League All Star Tournament starts June 28th in Madera with Mariposa facing Madera National at Town n Country. The first pitch is sceduled for 6pm.
