CLOVIS - The Clovis Exchange Club honored the Clovis Police Officer of the Year, 2011, Wednesday at a special luncheon at the Airways Golf Course Clubhouse. This is the 11th year that the Clovis Exchange Club is honoring the Clovis Police Officer of the Year, voted such by his or her peers for leadership and accomplishments .

FRESNO COUNTY - The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Fresno man in connection with the repeated sexual assault of a 9 year old girl. Arrested was 26 year old James Michael Rogoff.
The investigation began early Monday morning, shortly after 1:00am, when deputies responded to a residence located in the 1500 block of N Dickenson Ave regarding a sex offense call.

CLOVIS - Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a clerk at gunpoint in the 7-11 store at Clovis and Barstow avenues about 3:30 in the morning last Friday. No one was hurt.
The man walked into the store and placed a bag of potato chips and a survival bracelet on the counter. Then, he pulled a large revolver from his waistband and told the clerk, “No problems. No problems.”

CHOWCHILLA - Richard Schoenfeld, the youngest of the three convicted kidnappers that took 26 schoolchildren and their bus driver in Chowchilla and buried them alive in a rock quarry 36 years ago has been released from prison.
A statement released by the California Department of Corrections said Schoenfeld was release to an undisclosed location last night and will be monitored 24 hours a day with a GPS monitoring device.

FRESNO – Tuesday afternoon Fresno Polcie Officers Martin VanOverbeek and Charles Renfro were assigned to patrol crime “hot spots” in the City of Fresno as part of the Department’s Summer Deployment plan. While patrolling, the officers observed a suspicious gold Saturn parked near Fifth and Clay with the windshield wipers running, but nobody around. The officers ran the vehicle’s license plate and discovered it was stolen.
When the officers got out to investigative further, they looked through the windows and saw a small white poodle lying motionless on the rear floorboard. The poodle appeared to be in distress due to the heat, but the officers discovered the Saturn’s doors had been locked by the suspects when they abandoned it.
