Fresno State Softball Continues Home Stand Print E-mail

Fresno - The Fresno State softball team hosts Cal State Fullerton and Santa Clara for four games in two days, beginning Saturday at 1 p.m. from Bulldog Diamond.

The Bulldogs (3-2) play Santa Clara at 1 p.m. Saturday and Cal State Fullerton at 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, the `Dogs play the Titans first at 1 p.m. followed by the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. Santa Clara and Cal State Fullerton will face off both days at 10:30 a.m. before the Bulldogs take the field.

Monday, 30 January 2012 15:00 – The Fresno State men's tennis team lost to No. 9 UCLA, 4-0, at the Los Angeles Tennis Center this weekend. The day began promising when Jean-Charles Diame and partner Sai Kartik Nakireddi beat UCLA’s No. 3 doubles team, Warren Hardie and Dennis Mkrtchian, 8-3. Unfortunately, despite all efforts from the ‘Dogs, that was the last Bulldog win for the day. The Bulldogs’ No. 1 doubles team, Remi Boutillier and Francis Alcantara was bested by UCLA’s Nick Meister and Adrien Puget, 8-6, after a back-and-forth battle.

Chowchilla – It has been 136 days since the passing of Little League District 10 Administrator Bob Berry. In that time the powers that be at Western Regional Little League have devised a plan to break up the district Mr. Berry worked so hard to keep together.

In a small meeting room in Chowchilla, presidents from all of the community Little Leagues from Sanger to Turlock met to learn the fate of their district. What they learned from acting District Administrator John Gray was that one of the largest districts in the state would be split into two separate districts this season.

Boone coached the Fresno State football team from 1973-75 - JR Boone, Fresno State's head football coach from 1973-75, passed away in his sleep on Sunday at his home in Selma. He was 86.

Boone, a native of Clinton, Okla., enjoyed a successful athletic and coaching career. The former NFL player was inducted into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame in 1972 and is also a member of the University of Tulsa Hall of Fame, the Reedley College Hall of Fame, the California Junior College Hall of Fame and the YMCA Hall of Fame.

Another Exclusive Big Valley News Editorial

- There are some that might not believe that I am a subscriber of the Madera Tribune. I have been a big fan of the current publisher, Chuck Doud, ever since he and a group of local citizens took ownership of the paper a few years back. There are also some that may remember that during the early years of the old Madera Online, we would battle with the Tribune and its host of former publishers from Paul Bittick to Rocky Hayes (no relation to Les Hayes).
