Arrest Made in Armed Robberies of Local Pharmacies

FRESNO - On January 15, 2018, at approximately 7:30 am, an African American male attempted to break into the rear metal security door of the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy located at 219 East Olive Avenue. He was wearing a red jacket, bald, heavyset, and looking into the camera just prior to removing it from the outside of the business. His image was captured on video.

Later that morning, at approximately 11:14 am, the same suspect went to the Vista Pharmacy, located at 4233 E. Tulare St. He walked behind the counter and was confronted by the pharmacy technician who told him he wasn’t allowed there and that he needed to leave. The suspect took several bottles of promethazine from the shelves and forcefully pushed the technician to the ground causing her to strike her head and sustain major injuries. The suspect fled out the door and was seen leaving the area in a dark colored vehicle.

Three Reedley Men Arrested Following Burglary and Vehicle Pursuit

KINGSBURG - Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked three men into the Fresno County Jail for their roles in a hot prowl burglary. They are: 19 year old Lorenzo Herrera of Reedley, 19 year old Morgan Bray of Reedley and 20 year old Baldemar Ambriz of Reedley. Herrera is facing felony charges of burglary and assault on an officer. His bail is set at $275,000. Bray is facing a felony burglary charge. His bail was set at $70,000 and he has bonded out. Ambriz is facing a felony burglary charge. His bail was set at $70,000 and he has also bonded out.

Shortly before 11:00 am on Wednesday, three men armed with a handgun and a baseball bat smashed a glass door and entered a home located near the intersection of S. Zediker Ave. and E. Kamm Ave. in Kingsburg. The woman who was inside at the time, ran out to a nearby business to get help calling 911.

Fresno PD Cracks Down on Pedestrian Law Enforcement

FRESNO - On Wednesday, January 17^th, 2018, in response to last year’s 51 traffic related fatalities, 25 of which were pedestrian related, all shifts of the Fresno Police Department's Northwest Policing District focused their efforts on addressing awareness and enforcement of traffic violations committed by pedestrians.

Officers started the operation at 6:00 am on January 17^th and ended at 6:00 am this morning. During the operation, Officers made contact with 47 traffic violators including pedestrians who were walking in the roadway causing vehicle traffic to slow or swerve and crossing the roadways against traffic signals. Some committing hazardous violations in motor vehicles and while riding bicycles were also contacted by officers.

Citizen's Help Fresno PD Stop Armed Gang Member From Fleeing Traffic Collision

FRESNO - Early Sunday morning, residents living in the 600 block of East California Avenue in Southwest Fresno were suddenly awakened by the sound of a loud crash occurring outside. Several residents exited their residences where they observed a red colored Chevrolet Trail Blazer with moderate front end damage driving eastbound California Avenue from Lee Street after striking a vehicle parked along the east curb of Lee Street.

While fleeing the scene, the driver of the trailblazer, 23yr old Norteno gang member Ivan Acevedo, collided with the south curb of E California Avenue. Acevedo attempted to run from the scene. However, he was quickly captured by the residents.

Three Gang Members Off the Streets of Merced

MERCED – Three gang members are off the streets of Merced thanks to the work of the Gang Violence Suppression Unit of the Merced Police Department. On Friday the 5^th of January, 2018, GVSU officers developed information that gang member Fredrick Gilchrist was selling drugs and had firearms at his residence.

GVSU officers authored a search warrant and served the search warrant at Gilchrist’s residence located in the 600 block of Loughborough Drive in Merced. During the search, officers located a handgun, ammunition, a digital scale and drugs inside his home. Gilchrist was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail for sales of narcotics and gang inhancements.
