FRESNO - On Monday, October 30, 2017, Detectives from the Career Criminal Auto Theft Team (CCATT) located a 2001 Chevrolet van, belonging to a local plumbing company, in the driveway of a residence in the area of Hayes and Clinton. The van was a reported stolen vehicle out of Northeast Fresno. Detectives began surveillance.
During the surveillance, several subjects were seen in and around the stolen van. Detectives eventually approached the residence and detained multiple people. One male fled on foot and was apprehended after a foot pursuit with the assistance of the Fresno Police Department’s helicopter air crew.
During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that two of the detainees were involved in the theft of the van. The contents of the van had also been removed and were found in the back yard and inside of the residence. A stolen handgun was also located in the residence.
Peckerwoods gang member Colt Mercer, 26, of Fresno was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) probation violation and resisting arrest.
Sureno gang member Roberto Gonzalez, 41, of Fresno was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for felony auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, being a prior convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
