OAKHURST - On January 8, 2018, at approximately 5:00am, Madera County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence in the 39000 block of Manzanita Drive in Oakhurst for a report of a burglary. The owner of the property reported that two motorcycles and several pieces of equipment had been stolen from his garage.
During a subsequent search of the area, a U-Haul truck with two occupants was located. The two subjects, David Greene and Tama Lucas, refused a consensual search of the vehicle; however, enough probable cause existed to detain the vehicle. Madera County Sheriff’s Office Detectives obtained a search warrant for the U-Haul, and numerous stolen items, including the equipment and one motorcycle, were recovered and returned to the owner(s).
Arrest warrants were issued for both Greene and Lucas. On January 10, 2018, at approximately 10:00am, Madera County Sheriff’s Office received information from a citizen regarding the whereabouts of Greene.
At approximately 12:00pm, Madera County Sheriff’s Office Deputies performed a felony vehicle stop in the area of Road 200 and Fine Gold Creek, and took Greene into custody. Shortly after, at approximately 12:40pm, Deputies responded to a residence in the 40000 block of Butterfield Stage Road in O’Neals and took Lucas into custody.
Greene and Lucas were transported and booked into Madera County Department of Corrections without incident. They have been charged with felony counts of residential burglary and receiving/possession of stolen property. They remain in custody at the time of this story.
