FRESNO - On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 6:20am, a member of the Fresno Area Express (FAX) policing unit was patrolling the transit corridors in downtown Fresno. The FAX officer initiated a traffic stop on a silver Dodge Charger for swerving in the roadway. He contacted the driver, Javier Macias, 23 of Fresno and the passenger Marcos Amezcua, 24 also of Fresno.
Macias did not have a driver’s license. Since the vehicle was going to be impounded, an inventory search was conducted. Inside the vehicle next to where the driver was sitting, less than an ounce of suspected methamphetamine was found.
On the passenger side floorboard, a backpack was found. Inside of the backpack was a 9mm Glock handgun. The gun was loaded with one round in the chamber and 14 rounds in the high capacity 33 round magazine. An additional 15 rounds were found in the backpack.
Macias, an admitted Lewis Street Bulldog, was arrested for traffic violations, as well as being in possession of methamphetamine.
Marcos, an admitted Chandler Park Bulldog, admitted that the backpack and gun belonged to him. He was arrested for weapons charges including: Possession of a loaded handgun, ex-felon in possession of a handgun, gang in possession of a handgun and possession of a high capacity magazine.
