FRESNO - Two Fresno Police Motorcycle Officers were injured in a traffic collision Tuesday afternoon. Both officers were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment and are listed in stable condition.
Motor Officers Brian Chadwick and Steven Craig were traveling northbound on Fresno Street approaching Lewis Avenue when a Nissan pick-up truck made an illegal left turn in front of the officers. The officers were unable to avoid the collision and struck the right side of the truck causing moderate damage to the truck and major damage to both motorcycles.
Officer Chadwick who is a 13 year veteran of the department received a severe gash to his right knee and facial injuries. Officer Craig who has been with the department for 17 years received facial injuries, a broken radius bone in his left arm, and is experiencing lower abdominal pain.
The driver of the pick-up truck, 47 year old Arturo Gutierrez was not injured and was cooperating with investigators from the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit. The collision is still under investigation to determine if Gutierrez will be cited.
