OAKHURST - Soroptimist International of The Sierras is celebrating 50 years of service in the Oakhurst Area and inviting the community to join them for this once in 50 years special event in Bass Lake at The Pines Resorts beautiful Lakeview Room on Sunday, May 20, 2018. We will be honoring seven of our amazing current members for long standing service to our community with a special ceremony. Since 1968, 50 years, Charter Member, Ann Topham, 40 years – Dannie Forbes, 31 years – Dianne Abney, 30 years – Cass Adelsbach, 28 years – Sandy Brinley, 28 years – Tara Ryan and 25 years – Peggy Davis.
In addition to celebrating our 50th Anniversary, we will also be honoring the Soroptimist 2018 'Live Your Dream College Scholarships for Women' Awards will be awarded to Michele Ciccozzi and Brittany Caldwell. The awards are given to women who are striving to obtain skills and education to improve her employment status and standard of living for herself and her family. The awards come from Soroptimist fundraiser programs that are held throughout the year.
The Soroptimist 2018 'Women of Distinction' Award will be awarded to Gina Clugston with Sierra News Online and the 2018 'Women Helping Women' Award will be awarded to Kristen Fiester with Mountain Crisis Services.
Inspirational Key Note Speaker will be the Soroptimist International, Sierra Pacific Region Incoming Governor 2018-2020, Gail Dekreon with SI San Francisco.
