KINGSBURG - Fresno Housing will celebrate its new affordable housing community for seniors in Kingsburg with a groundbreaking ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15. The event will take place at the future home of the new senior community, Linnaea Villas, located on Sierra Street near Madsen Avenue in Kingsburg.
Linnaea Villas is the joint effort of the City of Kingsburg, County of Fresno and Fresno Housing. The new housing community will include a total of 47 units and will offer one- and two-bedroom options for senior residents in Kingsburg.
“We are proud to be working with Fresno County and the City of Kingsburg to make this new community a reality,” said Preston Prince, Executive Director/CEO of Fresno Housing. “We take our commitment to supporting our seniors very seriously, and it’s important to provide affordable housing options that offer our seniors the opportunity to remain in the communities where they’ve raised families and built close ties.”
Linnaea Villas is Fresno Housing’s second senior affordable housing community in Kingsburg. The agency’s first development, Marion Villas, opened in 2015.
“We are thrilled to be working with Fresno Housing and Fresno County to bring another beautiful development to Kingsburg,” said Kingsburg Mayor Michelle Roman. “We worked together to bring a quality development in Marion Villas. It met many goals, including quality design and community-based architecture, while meeting a dire housing need. Given the sustained success of that development, we knew we wanted Fresno Housing to come back.”
Construction on Linnaea Villas is expected to be completed in spring/summer 2021. The new senior community contributes to Fresno Housing’s mission to create and sustain vibrant communities throughout Fresno County.
