Janet Petrucci (86)

Janet Petrucci (86),  a native Californian and resident of Madera for the past 48 years, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at St. Agnes Medical Center. Jan was born to Robert and Nell Biggs in Lodi, California, on May 4, 1937. During high school, Jan was active in 4-H, winning numerous awards at the state fair for her showmanship with sheep and pigs.

In adulthood, Jan went to work for the State of California with various state agencies, ultimately choosing to stay with the Department of Motor Vehicles.  Jan worked in Madera, Fresno, Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe.  Always looking for opportunity, Jan was promoted through the years to Manager 5 over the Program Policy Division in Sacramento.  She retired from state service in 1993.

In her retirement, Jan took on the task of modernizing the business operations of the family farm.  With the same grit and tenacity she had used in state government, Jan took the famed Shoe Box accounting system that her husband used, Enzo, and transformed it into an organized set of electronic ledgers and accounts.  Dad always wondered how all the paperwork could fit into that little box with a monitor on top of it.

After Enzo’s death in 2005, Jan remained on the family farm with her son Matt and grandson Michael.  Occasionally she would visit her son, Rob, and wife, Celena, in Las Vegas, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Sons survive Jan Matt (wife Lori) of Madera and Rob ( wife Celena) of South Carolina. Grandsons Micheal (Wife Courtney) and Alex. Sister-in-law Jean Biggs and children Nephew Dan (wife Teresa), Niece Lori (Husband Steven)

Recitation of the Rosary: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera, California.  Mass of Christian Burial: 11:30 Thursday, September 14, 2023, at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera, California.

Entombment: Following Funeral Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Madera, California.
