Barbara Anne Brown Manrriquez (76) was born May 21, 1948, to the union of Shaffer and Mayola Brown of Madera, California. Barbara attended local schools. She married her first husband, Gene Brewer, in 1965 while attending high school. She graduated in June 1967. This marriage was blessed with four children: Tyra, Shawn, Gene Jr., and Donson.
She worked as a selector at Madera Glass Plant for 32 years, retiring in 2008. While working at the glass plant, Barbara met and married her second husband, Ted Manrriquez. Ted and Barbara were very happily married; she called Ted her best friend.
Barbara's hobbies were shopping, sewing, crocheting, creating beautiful photo albums, and decorating her house for the holidays. She was a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan and never missed their games on TV. She was very family-oriented and spent many hours researching and recording our family genealogy. She loved to plan and cook for our family reunions. She also enjoyed watching political shows and debating political issues.
Barbara was a kind, generous person who will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She had a special love for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. On the evening of November 3, 2024, while surrounded by her family members, the Lord called Barbara home to rest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Manrriquez; her parents, Shaffer and Mayola Brown; her son Gene Brewer Jr.; her sisters, Opal Mae Clark, Ollie Mae Robinson, Erma Lee Williams, Evelyn Gibson, and Pearl Marie Brown, and her brothers, Theola Brown, Shaffer Brown Jr., and Joseph Clarence Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Tyra Brewer (Verneal), son, Shawn Brewer, and son, Donson Brewer (Lisa). One granddaughter, Rochelle Brewer, and one grandson, Darshawn Brewer. Five great-grandchildren: Montae Moore, Maliya Moore, A'ziyah Spencer, Darshawn Brewer Il, and Alean Brewer. Barbara has two sisters: Sarah Lee Harrell of Los Angeles, CA, and Mattie Marie Brown of Madera, CA. Two brothers: Rev M.I. Brown (Josephine) of Roland, Oklahoma, and Matt Brown Sr (Bobbie Helen) of Ventura, CA. Barbara also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
