MADERA – A Madera resident accused of possessing child pornography and manufacturing child pornography even while wearing a monitor strapped to his ankle is back in jail. Sheriff John Anderson says this case was the result of a joint investigation with Homeland Security, CDCR Parole, Madera Police, Madera County Sheriff’s Office, and ICAC (Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force).

The investigation, which began on December 26, 2012, has resulted in additional felony complaints filed against Frank Charles Reddell (38), a convicted sex offender,  just this morning by the Madera Police Department. Sheriff John Anderson says, authorities have in large part the electric monitor to thank.

Convicted Rapist Found in Mexico - CHP Dad Charged with Conspiracy Print E-mail

FRESNO COUNTY - Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of Spencer Scarber, the 20 year old convicted rapist who fled the United States prior to the end of his criminal trial.  Scarber was arrested in Mexico earlier this week.

Also arrested today in connection with Scarber’s disappearance were his father, 49 year old Sheldon Kyle Scarber, his mother, 51 year old Gail Lynne Scarber of Squaw Valley, and his sister, 33 year old Crystal Diane Reynoso, of Fresno.

Fresno Gang Operation Nets 72 Felons, Seize 6 Firearms Print E-mail

FRESNO - Fresno MAGEC completed a five day gang operation Sunday, focused on reducing gang violence and shootings in North Fresno. Twenty-four gang related shootings occurred in Fresno in the first five weeks of 2013, versus 18 during the same timeframe in 2012, a 33% increase.

Fresno MAGEC (Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium) coordinated a gang operation to combat this violent trend. The operation began on Wednesday, February 6th, and concluded on Sunday, February 10th. This is the second in a series of gang operations planned for 2013.

Suspected Gang Member Arrested & Hospitalized Following High-Speed Pursuit Print E-mail

FRESNO - A suspected “Bulldog” gang members was arrested after leading police on a pursuit while driving a stolen car and being in possession of a handgun. Early Friday evening a Fresno Police traffic officer working a Saturation patrol saw a 1987 Acura Legend on Belmont Avenue with a paper plate attached where the rear license plate should have been.

The officer activated his code lights in an attempt to stop the Acura for traffic violations. The vehicle, driven by Suspect Roxanne Gonzales, refused to yield and officers pursued the car for a brief period in the Lewis Street Market neighborhood.

Fresno State’s All-Time Wins Leader Led the Bulldogs for 19 Seasons


FRESNO – Fresno State’s legendary head football coach Jim Sweeney passed away Friday, Feb. 8, he was 83 years old.Sweeney led the Bulldogs for 19 years on the sidelines, finishing as Fresno State’s all-time wins leader with 144 victories. In his 32 seasons as a head coach he finished with 200 wins.

“Jim Sweeney is a Bulldog legend who will be deeply missed in our community,” Fresno State’s University President John D. Welty said. “Not only was he one of Fresno State’s most successful football coaches, but he was also a man who loved his student-athletes, first as individuals, and second as athletes, making their well-being a priority. Jim was devoted to Fresno and to our university – he embodied the true Bulldog spirit.”
