Marcello P. Ayala (92)

Marcello P. Ayala (92) of Madera, CA passed away on December 24, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family. Marcello P. Ayala was born in Fabens, Texas on April 26, 1925. Marcello and his family moved to Madera, CA when he was ten years old. At the age of eighteen, Marcello enlisted in the United States Army and became a Private First Class Rifleman.

Marcello was part of the 333rd Infantry, 84th Division, known as the famous Railsplitters. On September 20, 1944 he boarded the Edmund B. Alexander and set sail to the European Theater, where Marcello and his infantry took part in the most historical battles known to this date. He was in the front lines during the Battle of Ardennes, later to be known as The Battle of the Bulge, The Battle of Rhineland and the Battle Central Europe, all of which ended WWII. Marcello and his fellow soldiers became admired and were heroes to people across the world.

On March 29, 1946, Marcello was honorably discharged from the United States Army and started a successful career as a certified welder. Marcello was also instrumental in the building of the Madera Glass Plant where he was later hired on as a mechanic. Marcello was involved with the invention of a device at the glass plant which is still used to this day.

On November 25, 1950, Marcello married the love of his life Angelina Ayala and they were blessed with four amazing children. Marcello was a kind, humble and loving man that cared and loved his family unconditionally. No matter what, Marcello was a grateful man that always showed compassion and would make people laugh and smile. Marcello passed on these wonderful traits to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Marcello’s love will never be forgotten, nor will his bravery and kindness.

Marcello is preceded in death by his father Saturnino Ayala, mother Octavia Ayala, brothers Raymond and Charlie Ayala, and sisters Bertha Bradford and Delores Ayala.

Marcello is survived by his wife Angelina Ayala, sons Marcello Ayala Jr, Richard Ayala and Edward Ayala, daughter Diana Rangel (Joe Jesse Rangel), brothers Sal Ayala and John Ayala, and sister Doris Miramontes. Marcello is also survived by his grandchildren Christina Saucedo, Steven Mata, Michelle Jones, Christopher Ayala, Daniel Davis, Adrian Rangel, Stacey Ayala, Edward Ayala Jr, Andrew Ayala and Sarah Ayala, along with sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Madera, CA. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Madera, CA.
