Mary Rosalie Oberti (80), left this world on May 14, 2024, in Clovis, California. She was born in Fresno, California, on August 27, 1943. Mary's journey through life was marked by her unwavering spirit and grace as she navigated lifelong health challenges, including Lupus and numerous battles with cancer. Her resilience not only defined her character but also inspired those around her.

Mary was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Harold and Loretta Schoettler; her beloved husband of 59 years, Gary Oberti, who died just 10 months ago; her brothers Thomas, Jim, Harold, and David; her sister Judy Richards; her sister-in-law Dwynn Schoettler; and her in-laws James and Adeline Cerioni Oberti.

Her legacy continues through her loving children: Theresa of Arroyo Grande, CA, and her three daughters, Alexandra, Giana, and Julia; Susan (Scott) McCue of Chowchilla, CA, and their 4 children: Marissa, Shea, Sean, and Hope, and Jimmy Oberti, also from Chowchilla, and his 4 children: Mariana, Ava, Jenna, and Zakery. Mary is also survived by her sisters-in-law Ila, Ellouise, Caroline Schoettler, Lynda Oberti, and brother-in-law Stan Oberti, and a host of treasured nieces and nephews.

Mary's education began at St. Joachim's Catholic School and continued at Madera Union High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1961. Her high school years were filled with activities that shaped her into the confident woman she became, from baton twirling and letter girl to acting and modeling. As Prom Queen and voted most friendly, she left an indelible impression on her peers. Though health issues redirected her from nursing studies at The University of California San Diego back to the valley, she found joy and purpose in marrying Gary Oberti in 1964 and starting their beloved family.

Professionally, Mary was a beacon of hope and faith. Recognized as St. Joachim's Distinguished Graduate in 2004, she spoke passionately about the impact of Christian formation on her life. Mary had a pro-life mission and co-founded Divine Inspirations with Lorrayne Sindt, a business that created personalized guardian angel dolls, each with a unique prayer. This endeavor was not just a business but a mission to spread the message of Christ's mercy and love.

Mary's social nature meant she never knew a stranger. She was a fountain of wisdom, exuding an infectious love for life and people. Her hobbies included family time, travel, and admiration for the ever-changing world of fashion. Her life could be summed up in a few simple yet powerful words: faith-filled, courageous, and loving.

As a motivational speaker would say, "Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning to dance in the rain." This quote, often attributed to Vivian Greene, embodies Mary's approach to life. Despite the storms she faced, she danced with grace and left a legacy of joy and perseverance.

Mary's life was a testament to the power of faith and the strength of the human spirit. She was a living example that even in the face of adversity, one can lead a life filled with purpose, love, and joy. Her memory will continue to motivate and uplift all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Mary Rosalie Oberti's story is not one of sorrow. Still, it is a celebration of a life well-lived, a journey marked by courage, love, and an unwavering faith that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

Mary had at least 7 near death experiences due to her long cancer battles. . On April 30th, her final challenge came with open heart surgery, but she never quite recovered. On May 14th, surrounded by family and friends and her pastor, Fr. John Warburton O.S.J leading in prayer. She had a beautiful passing and let us know that she was seeing glimpses of heaven during the last hours of her life.

Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who treated Mary in her last days. A big shout out to the nurses at Clovis Community Hospital ICU ward, who truly took care of her right up to the end.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, from 2 PM to 6 PM at Jay Chapel in Madera. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 30th, 2024, at 10 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Madera, followed by the Funeral Mass.

Entombment at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum will be private for family members.

The family has suggested that remembrances in Mary’s memory be sent to St. Joachim Catholic Church, the Holy Family Table of St. Joachim Church, The Nazareth House of Fresno, or Right to Life.
