MADERA - With great sadness, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Joseph Paul Jackan, 41, of Madera, California, on November 2, 2024. Joe was born in Bellevue, WA, grew up in North Bend and Mukilteo, WA, and at age 10 moved to St. Charles, IL. He graduated from Central High School in 2001 and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of Illinois in 2006.
Joe attended the University of Iowa and received a Doctorate of Pharmacy in 2014. On his first day of pharmacy school, Joe met the love of his life, Angela Sze. After graduation, they moved to Santa Rosa, CA, to begin their careers as Pharmacists, where CVS and Target Pharmacies employed Joe. Joe married his soulmate, Angela (Sze), on August 18, 2020.
Joe was an Eagle Scout and an outdoor and nature enthusiast. He especially loved hiking with Angela in the beautiful foothills of Santa Rosa. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing different cultures, especially their trips to Japan. He loved to cook and could make a mean curry.
He enjoyed movies and books, and he and Angela could always be found reading a book next to each other or playing a computer game together. He loved his 2006 Honda Accord, Portillo's chocolate cake shake, and puns. His pride and joy were their two Balinese cats, Pachelbel and Koji. Joe thirsted for knowledge and was recently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Science.
Joe will always be remembered for his quick wit, amazing sense of humor, and kindness. He genuinely cared for others and always gave a friendly and warm greeting to everyone he met with his huge smile, handshake, and big hug.
Joe was simply our spectacular human, a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. Joe is survived by his wife, Angela (Sze), mother Barbara Jackan, sister Julie (Danny) Follman; nieces Ella, and Grace Follman; father and mother-in-law, Lawrence, and Kelly Sze; brother-in-law Andy (Marie Zhong) Sze, and niece Aberdeen Sze, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Angela’s extended family, worldwide.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Allan Jackan, and brother Bradley Jackan.
