Earl J. Martin (76)

Earl J. Martin (76), a native of Livingston, CA and a resident of Madera, CA for 74 years passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at his Madera home. He was a retired owner and operator of Chevron Service Station Cleveland and Hwy 99 for 35 years.

Earl was a police officer from 1960 to 1970 and was a member of the B.P.O.E. Madera Elks Lodge #1918 for 45 years. He was an avid fisherman and lived with the best catch of his life for 57 years, Shirley. Earl was known for his BBQ expertise, specializing in tri-tip and rib-eye steaks.

Earl was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Bill and Jack Martin, parents Earl & Elsie Martin and 2 sisters, Dorothy Castle and Betty Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Martin of Madera, CA. 2 sons: Brent Martin and his wife Sharon of Madera, CA and Doug Martin and his wife Mary of Clovis, CA. 2 daughters: Lory Miller and her husband Corey of Madera, CA and Sheryl Martin of Missouri. 3 brothers: Don Martin and his wife Bonnie of Visalia, CA; Dick Martin and his wife Susan of Hawaii and Harold Martin and his wife Judy of Chester, CA. He was also survived by 12 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Jay Chapel in Madera. Interment to follow at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.

Remembrances may be made to the Madera Elks Lodge, 112 West 6th Street, Madera, CA 93637 or Donor's Favorite Charity.
