Coach Allen "Al" Kiddy (78)

Coach Allen "Al" Kiddy (78), a native of Norman, OK and a Madera County resident for 48 years passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at a Modesto hospital.

Coach Kiddy graduated from Jenks High School in Oklahoma after earning "All State" honor in wrestling, football, baseball and winning the State 100 yard dash and finishing 2nd in the 220 yard dash.

He went on to Oklahoma University where he lettered in wrestling, football and baseball for Coach Port Robertson and Bud Wilkerson. Al is 1 of 9 athletes at Oklahoma University to achieve this. He received his Masters at Azusa Pacific University. Al coached at Hughson High School from 1960 to 1964, had three Trans Valley championship teams and coached 5 Northern California Tournament champions.
He coached at McLane High School in Fresno in 1965 and had two Central Valley Section Champions. As one of the premier coaches in the valley, Coach Kiddy led his teams to an overall record of 237 wins, 15 losses and 2 ties as well as 6 North Yosemite League Championships, 5 Valley Championships and a 2nd place in the State Championships at Madera High School. During his tenure Coach Kiddy has coached young men to numerous championships to include Sammie King, Pete King, Larry Tribble, Billy Tate and capping it off with State Champ Ernie Flores in the first CIF State Championships. He was an assistant coach at Fresno City College from 1976 to 1984.

He was preceded in death by his father Leon Kiddy.

Al is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elaine Kiddy of Coarsegold, CA. His children, Lisa Marie Kiddy of Arizona, Robert Bruce Kiddy of Riverside, CA, Teresa Chatwood of Spring Valley, CA, Jacob Smith and Heidi Scott both of Coarsegold, CA. He is the grandfather to Chuck, Shelly, Linda, Kyle & Madison and great-grandchildren to Alejandro and Gina.

Visitation will be on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jay Chapel in Madera. Funeral Services will be Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Yosemite Christian Center in Madera. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, CA.
