Virginia Lee Rose 79

Virginia Lee Rose 79 was born September 27, 1934 in Rayville LA and passed on Saturday July 12, 2014 at Kaiser Hospital in Fresno, CA. Her death from an aneurysm was sudden and unexpected but peaceful. She was surrounded by family.
 
Virginia graduated with an AA Degree from Merrit College in Oakland, CA and was a Probation Aide with the Alameda County Probation Department in Oakland, CA until she retired and moved back to Madera to live on the family property purchased in 1953. Once John and Virginia had built their retirement home, Virginia decided it was time to give-back to her beloved Madera County.

Virginia was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and participating as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Her commitment was so strong Virginia found herself serving as a volunteer on multiple boards and committees, i.e., the Madera County Mental Health Advisory Board, Juvenile Justice, Interagency Child and Youth Services Council, Madera County Chamber of Commerce Crime Prevention Commission, Madera United Way Board of Directors, St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store, Social Services In-Home Supportive Advisory Board, Social Services Adult Protective Services, Child Abuse Prevention Agency Phantom Force, Madera County Cultural Diversity Committee, Madera Community Hospital League of Volunteers, Community Action Partnership Board of Directors, Victim Services, NAACP, Madera South East Garden Club, MLK Local Host committee and the Madera American Legion Auxiliary Unit 11.

Madera County showed appreciation to Virginia with many awards over the years, i.e., Golden Apple Award from the Mariposa/Madera Chapter of the Association of California School Administrators, Victim Services Volunteer of the year (1992-1994-1996-2000), Madera County Mental Health Appreciation Award (2000), Interagency Children and Youth Appreciation of Service, M.L.K. Humanitarian Award (1998), City of Madera Anti-Graffiti Program, Volunteer Board Member of Fathom Force Appreciation of Service and Commitments, Victim Services Volunteer of the year (2000) . Nominated for the Jane Thomas Grassroots Volunteer Recognition Award, Madera Community Hospital Award for 15 years of Volunteer Service, County of Madera Board of Supervisors congratulate Virginia Lee Rose, Senior Volunteer of the year, May 19, 2010. 18th Annual Celebration of Living, Certificate of Appreciation "Soup Bowl for Super Kids" Victim Service (2001-22002-2003), Proclamation by the Madera County Board of supervisors, recognizing Mrs. Virginia Lee Rose for her years of dedication, love and volunteer services to the members of our community. In 2013 John and Virginia served as Grand Marshalls of the Old Timers Day Parade.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband (Honey-Do) John Wesley Rose Jr. 2 daughters; Margaret Wesley Graham of Madera, CA and Jacklyn Anice Neal of Brentwood, CA. Three Granddaughters; Shanel Renee Wesley of Wshington DC, LeeAnn Graham Wesley of Fresno, CA and Amanda Patchell of Merced, CA; Three Great Grandsons; Mason Alexander Ruiz of Vermillion, South Dakota, Jaylen Anthony Ruiz of Madera, CA and Julio Michael Delgado of Fresno, CA and One Great-Great Granddaughter; Jaylee Breeze Ruiz of Madera, CA. She also leaves Three siblings: James Harris, Winifred Griffin and John David Harris along with a multitude of nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Wayne rose, Three siblings; Frank Tommy Harris, Robert Joseph Harris III and Clementina Harris; and her parents.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Virginia Lee Rose will be on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Madera, CA.
