LOS ANGELES - The James Pickens, Jr. Annual Charity Roping takes place at the Clovis Rodeo grounds on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Hosted by actor, producer, and philanthropist, James Pickens, Jr. (“Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Conners”), the event offers a Pro-Am and Open and attracts many of the best team ropers in the sport. The Pro-Am and Open roping events will stream live on the Wrangler Network.
Prizes, including trophy saddles by Coats Saddlery, will be awarded to the Average winners in the Open, along with trophy buckles from Montana Silversmiths. Amateur Pro-Am winners earn cash prizes and trophy buckles from Montana Silversmith.
For the third consecutive year, the Kid’s Dummy Roping competition is sponsored by RopeSmart and is open to children in three age groups: six years and under, seven to nine years old, and 10 -12 years old. Kids will compete to win Short Go Mini Roping Dummies with LED lights and wheels.
The James Pickens Jr. Annual Charity Roping event is sponsored by Bloomer Trailers, the largest manufacturer of horse trailers in the U.S. “We always try to align ourselves with people of character and integrity, like Mr. Pickens. Proceeds from the event benefit the James Pickens, Jr. Foundation, Hands for Hope (a Los Angeles based after school program), Camp Giddy-Up, a summer camp for at risk youth and, the Clovis Rodeo Foundation. “The Clovis community has embraced us so warmly for the past few years.
