Fresno State Defeats Boise State on the Smurf Turf 19-16 in Overtime to Win Mountain West Championship

BOISE, Idaho – With the Mountain West Championship game in the balance in overtime on a snow covered field, sophomore running back Ronnie Rivers skated in from one-yard on an option pitch from senior quarterback Marcus McMaryion for a touchdown to give Fresno State a 19-16 win over Boise State, its third Mountain West title, and avenged its 2014 and 2017 championship game road losses to BSU in its fourth overall championship game appearance.

The loss was just the ninth for the Broncos at Albertsons Stadium since 2000 and their first overtime loss at home since 2007. It was Fresno State's first win on the blue turf and first win at Boise State since 1984.


Fresno FC Signs Goalkeeper CJ Cochran

FRESNO - Fresno Football Club announced today the signing of goalkeeper CJ Cochran for the 2019 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. “We’re extremely pleased to welcome back CJ to Fresno,” head coach Adam Smith said. “He did a great job for us while here on a short loan and we’re excited to have him for a full season this time.”

Cochran made five appearances for the Foxes in June on loan from fellow USL Championship club Nashville SC, including one clean sheet in the Highway 99 Derby victory over Sacramento Republic FC on June 30. He recorded 12 saves across five matches for a 75% save percentage during his one-month loan before he returned to the Music City. With Nashville, Cochran made three appearances and collected one clean sheet.

Mountain West Unveils New Football Championship Trophy

Bulldogs Use Second-half Surge to Top Spartans, 31-13, on Senior Day

FRESNO – Overcoming a sluggish start in the first half, Fresno State used four second-half touchdowns to ease to a 31-13 victory over San Jose State on Senior Day at Bulldog Stadium. Fresno State (10-2, 7-1 MW) totaled 515 yards of offense with 326 of that coming in the second half as the Bulldogs scored 28 of their 31 points over their final 30 minutes. 

Marcus McMaryion and KeeSean Johnson sparked the offense during the second half as McMaryion went 11-of-12 for 242 yards and two touchdowns with Johnson catching six of those passes for 165 yards and one of McMaryion's two TD throws.

To the Moon! Team California Claims 2018 PGA Jr. League Championship

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz - As the moon rose above Grayhawk Golf Club, Team California (San Diego – Encinitas Ranch Golf Course) went undefeated at the 7th PGA Jr. League Championship presented by National Car Rental, to capture the team's second crown and the fifth for the Golden State.

California's Zander Grant, 13, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, drained a downhill 5 ½-foot putt on Hole No. 9, to clinch the national title over Team Minnesota (Blaine – TPC Twin Cities) 7 ½ to 4 ½. California finished 6-0 in the Championship and Minnesota posted an impressive 5-1-0 clip in its first Championship.

Bulldogs Wins the West in 23-14 Traunching of San Diego

FRESNO -  Clinching a second straight West Division crown and a trip back to the Mountain West championship game, Fresno State overcame a four-point halftime deficit to defeat San Diego State, 23-14, on Saturday evening at Bulldog Stadium.

Holding on to the Oil Can Trophy for a second consecutive season, the Bulldogs rallied from a 14-10 halftime deficit by shutting out SDSU in the second half and limiting them to just 57 yards of offense. Meanwhile, the 'Dogs racked up 178 yards offense and went 4-of-6 on third downs in the second half en route to the comeback.
