Tuiasosopo Misses Trip to NCAAs by Slimmest of Margins

SACRAMENTO -  Two weeks ago, Aisiah Tuiasosopo won a Mountain West title hammer throw title by four inches but on Saturday she was on the opposite end at the NCAA West Preliminary Round, missing a trip to the NCAA Championships by just one-quarter of an inch as she attempted to extend her collegiate career another two weeks.

After a pair of fouls to start Saturday's competition, the Bulldog senior landed the second-best throw of her career at 61.30m/201'-1". Unfortunately, the attempt was just outside of the final qualifying spot of 61.33m/201'-2" as she would finish 14th overall.

Foxes Come Up Short at Orange County SC - Fresno FC's 16 Shots Not Enough to Penetrate Orange County Defense

IRVINE, Calif - Fresno FC pounded 16 shots on fifth-place Orange County SC (6W-3L-2D), but the Foxes (2W-4L-6D) couldn't get through to goal, losing 3-0 on Saturday night at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. Orange County's Thomas Enevoldsen opened the scoring in the 10th minute, and the hosts added two more in the second half to hand the Foxes their second consecutive loss in USL play.

The Foxes appeared to establish tempo early, but we're unable to penetrate an Orange County defense that helped goalkeeper Andre Rawls collect a league-best sixth clean sheet this season. Twice in the opening seven minutes, midfielder Pedro Ribeiro tried to get through the defense with a through ball, only to have Jemal Johnson and Renato Bustamante flagged offsides, respectively.

Fresno notched 16 hits in the effort, with seven going for extra-bases. Five Grizzlies picked up multi-hits, including catcher Eduardo de Oleo (3-for-5), who did it for the first time this season.

In the bottom of the first, Fresno scratched across three runs. First, AJ Reed (3-for-4) hit a sacrifice fly to center. Then, Jon Kemmer (2-for-5) roped a double to left field, knocking in a pair. El Paso cut the deficit to 3-2 in the next half frame after an error and groundout.
